Welcome to Shades of the Spirit...
...where we believe that each massage should be as unique as the client it is meant to treat.
At Shades of the Spirit......we practice manual massage therapy as a holistic (or "whole person" wellness) practice instead of just focusing on the symptoms. We believe in treating a client as more than just a physical body, each person is unique not only in their individual pains, discomfort and tension, but in their emotional, mental, and spiritual needs as well. Although we classify ourselves as holistic massage therapists we enjoy working in several different modalities, most of which deal with medical oriented techniques and philosophies.
...we can treat clients with clinical, athletic and therapeutic massage modalities. Whether our client simply wants an hour to relax and be pampered, or is in need of rehabilitative therapy after a serious injury, we are prepared to help facilitate the healing process as best we can.
With a well-rounded practice...
As Massage Therapists......we have a passion to help people cope with the everyday, hoping that each of our clients leaves feeling refreshed and pain-free. We even regularly donate our time to the charity organizations that sponsor big sporting events like the Ironman 70.3 and the MS Bike Ride which take place in Southern California each year.
Burn Survivors are by far, some of the most positive and uplifting people I have ever met. One smile from them can brighten up the room (as if they stopped smiling!) and leave it glowing for hours afterwards. I was so lucky to have some of these wonderful people come into my life; when Chris and I decided to take a certificate course in Burn Scar Massage Therapy we didn't exactly know what we were getting into.
When Chris and I end up making a decision to take a continuing education course, it is typically because either we think it would be useful information to have, or because we plan on using the techniques in our regular practice. We never really take the class with the intention of being touched in the process (there is a Massage Therapist pun in there somewhere). Jen Hartley and Chris Halwas' Burn Scar Massage Therapy class, however, did just that--they did more than that actually, they touched an entire room full of Massage Therapists. People who already dedicate their lives to compassionate touch and now you've made them fall in love with burn survivors.
